Vinton-Shellsburg Wrestling Fundraiser Saturday, August 6 5:00 p.m.

This Saturday, August 6, at 5:00 p.m. the 2nd Annual Pitching for Pins event will be held at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Baseball Field.This year for our fundraiser we are planning our 2nd annual slow pitch softball game, Wrestlers vs. Vinton Police Department! This is to help raise money to help benefit our wrestling program, and to help raise good awareness for the police department.

Keystone 3rd Annual Car Show August 7th 8-2:00 p.m.

The 3rd Annual Car Show will be held on August 7th from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.ALL years of cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 entrants. There will be a 50/50 Raffle and other raffles. The Top 50 Awards will be given at 2:00 p.m. (the Keystone Fire Department will be voting)All Parking is on a hard surface.

Vinton Izaak Walton League offers free home firearms safety training August 2

The Vinton Izaak Walton League’s monthly meeting this coming Tuesday, August 2nd will be dedicated to home firearms training. They will review the most common firearms families have in their home, how they work, how to make sure they’re empty of all ammunition, how to safely store them and things you can do to have children understand the importance of treating them with respect.

HOW ONE-ROOM SCHOOLS GREW KIDS AND COMMUNITIES, AT CENTER POINT MUSEUM JULY 31

It’s been almost three-quarters of a century since there were one-room schools in Eastern Iowa. But many families still have cherished--if sometimes factually challenged, as in “I walked four miles to school uphill both ways”--stories of the old country schools.At 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, the Center Point Historical Society Depot Museum will offer a free program on those legendary rural schools.

Cedar-Mt. Auburn Fire Department Hog Roast & Street Dance July 30

The Cedar-Mt. Auburn Fire Department will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday, July 30. Beginning at 5:00 p.m. the Fire Department will begin serving - pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, potato chips, homemade cookies, water and lemonade.The street dance will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until 10:00 p.m. Music will be provided by Plug Nickel.

Drive in Movie July 29

Roosters Auto Sales will be hosting a drive-in movie for the family on Friday, July 29 at sundown. The business will be showing, "Cars". The business is located at 410 H Ave., in Vinton. The fun starts at 8:00 p.m.Sidewalk chalk and glow sticks will be provided for the kids! This is a FREE event for the whole family! There will be FREE pop, water, popcorn to enjoy.

Turner Hall Tractorcade August 27

The Turner Hall Tractorcade will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. on August 27 and take off at 9:00 a.m.The entry fee is $40 and $20 per rider.Tractors will pull out from Keystone, and head to Van Horne, Garrison, Clutier, Vining, Elberon, and wrap up in Keystone.For more information contact Justin Kaiser, Nick Rinderknect or Landon Lohf.There will be a free maid rite, baked beans and chips for lunch.
